I started painting in 2003 because it was the right time in my life to start a journey on a different road. The roads I’d been traveling on up to then were defined by rigid borders and clearly marked boundaries. Painting became my way to blur the lines, using color and a sense of somewhere I might have been.
My abstract art conveys a sense of image and place based solely on a sweeping use of color. These paintings depict a view: somewhere I’ve either actually been or quite possible only imagined. My paintings are layered in a way that simulates movement. There are hidden images in the layers, but the overall message is one of capturing what my mind sees now because it might not be here tomorrow.
Colors speak to me, and every color speaks a different language depending on the day, the hour, my mood.
When I paint, I escape.
